Genius architect designs a tree house in the middle of the Kazakhstani forest

Architecture Inspiration

Aibek Almasov’s incredible architectural masterpiece, Tree House, is the dream home that goes beyond your wildest dreams.

Nestled in the mountains just outside of Kazakhstan’s largest city, Almaty, the dwelling features a 360-degree of nature that goes for miles! Oh yeah, and a beautiful 40-foot fir tree right in the middle of the cylindrical glass structure.

Obsessed with Aibek’s design, we asked him a few questions.

Tell us how the idea for a tree inside of a home came about! Was it a client’s request?

‘Every morning I looked to the seventh floor and saw the grey sky and unsatisfied people going to work, and so I wanted to run far away. It lasted a long time and I’m used to it. One day a customer came along who had a piece of land in the foothills of Almaty, and ordered a design for a vacation home. I was glad to get this project because this is what I was waiting for.

‘There were three versions of design, and he chose the third option that I liked. Therefore, I dropped all the rules and I did it because I wanted to’.

What were some of the main challenges in designing the home?

‘The main challenge was of privacy… of being close to nature without any rules and where there is no city noise’.

How long did it take to design the home from start to finish?

‘It took about three months’.

The home is in the middle of the forest — is electricity and heating available inside?

‘The third floor and roof are covered with a thin layer of transparent solar panels — that ensures electricity and heat (warm floors on each level). The most important thing in this project though is that the architecture is friends with nature. Thus we respect nature’.

What other projects are you working on?

‘I am currently working on two villas in Almaty right now. Soon I will publish on my website‘.
